Strawberry Detox Water To Waste Less and Drink More

Hulling strawberries is a must, but don’t be so quick to toss those strawberry tops. They still hold a lot of flavor. Unlike other water infusion recipes, this Strawberry Detox Water enables you to use the whole fruit. You’re not just sacrificing fruit to become all soggy and flavorless. Bonus points if you compost the tops after drinking the water too.

Cheers to the Weekend: White Wine Sangria and Cakes

This weekend, I'll be sipping with a view and with my best girl beside me (we love a dog-friendly rental!). We'll be posted by the lake in Deep Creek, Maryland, but here's a little wine inspiration for your weekend. This is also a nudge to soak up the warm days and crisp, cool nights of autumn, with a glass in hand.

Blackberry Jalapeño Margaritas and Cakes

I'm 34 now. Why would I leave my dog, go out, and pay for margaritas, when I could sip from home and watch true crime shows?!? Allow me to introduce you to these Blackberry Jalapeño Margaritas. They're worth staying home for. (The 30's bring so much wisdom, friends. If you're in your 20s, just know it gets so much better, or at least, way more comfortable.) Cheers!

Sun Tea Style Herbal Tisanes for Flavorful Hydration

“It’s funny how eight glasses of water a day seems impossible, but eight glasses of wine can be done in a meal.”  I’m not sure to whom that wise observation should be accredited (aside from the world of Instagram memes), but isn’t that so true? Why is it so hard to drink enough water, but glass after glass of wine goes by with ease? Sun tea style herbal tisanes offer a refreshing and flavorful way for you to achieve your summer hydration goals, so you can have that glass(es) of wine later.

Cheers to the Weekend: Rosé by the Bottle & Box

I finally checked Somm off my watch list. The documentary was released in 2012, so I'm rather late to that dinner party, but in case you haven't seen it, here's the summary: four dudes with serious wine habits prepare for the ultimate sommelier test by annoying EVERYONE around them with their selfishness, egos and endless stacks of flashcards.  On one hand, the documentary should scare everyone away from pursuing that level of wine mastery. On the other hand, there's something about their intensity and expertise that appeals to my competitive side. However, I am definitely not there. This post features two wines I bought based on looks alone, so for this installment of "Cheers to the Weekend," I'm going to change things up. Instead of little novice notes on these wines, let's just talk life and weekends, shall we?

Honeysuckle Syrup for a Sparkling Spring Drink

I'll remember the day Anthony Bourdain died, but I'll also remember the night that followed. After letting my schedule get the best of me in years past, I had sworn I would attend this year's Three Rivers Arts Festival. Despite feeling extra tired, I was intent on these plans, so the Rustbelt Farmer and I packed a bottle of wine and a picnic blanket, and we biked downtown to see the ever mesmerizing Valerie June.  If you just need a reminder to reframe priorities, to embrace the season and enjoy all of your hard work, I made this honeysuckle syrup drink for us. But if you need more than a break, more than flowers and a walk outside, I sincerely hope you reach out and find the appropriate resources because as Valerie June sang, "There is a light, You have inside you, Can touch."
