I learned how to spell laryngitis when the summer La Roux concert had to be postponed because Elly Jackson’s larynx had all the swollen signs of throat inflammation.  The news was a major disappointment at the time, but the new date meant I could combine a trip to Philly for the concert and a trip to New York for a visa (more on that soon!) and combine both of those motives with my love of big cities and the friends who live there.  On top of that, being in bigger cities means more food options, and once Elly sang the last note and I had submitted my visa paperwork, this trip was largely about the food!
