When A Wooded Road Leads to a Dream…
At the tail end of summer, friends and I traveled to Cape May, NJ to take in the soft sandy beaches, the lighthouse, the enviable Victorians, and rather serendipitously, Beach Plum Farm. The latter almost didn’t happen. Would the farm venue be open? Had the pandemic closed it for the season? We took a chance drive down the wooded road, and it opened to a dream. Each friend found their heart bursting over different details: the dreamiest greenhouse event space, sustainable farming initiatives, plates of smoked meats and buttery cornbread, garden cocktails, and more!
As the food hub for several restaurants and resorts, Beach Plum Farms is a dream partially because there’s no expense spared. The 62-acre destination is a farm anomaly in that respect. Practical and exquisite, it’s a far cry from the necessary scrappiness of most working farms. It’s an inspiration and an unobtainable aspiration, which makes languishing in its herb gardens and eating at the outdoor tables all the more appealing. It makes me hungry just reminiscing about it, so as I drool nostalgically, I invite you to vicariously languish in the gardens, meet the livestock and take in the Amish-built barn…
Ohhh… What a wonderful place! I would have liked to be there with you, so fantastic ❤️
Happy Christmas
